The worst loss of the weekend came when Georgia Tech lost to Notre Dame, 30-22. It’s cliché, but the score looks closer than the game really was.

Notre Dame limited Georgia Tech to 216 yards and a single score. I know, is 216 yards keeping them in check? When it comes to Tech, yes. They have a knack for stringing together multiple drives that end in the end zone off of long runs and they were limited to one long burst for 48 yards and that was it.

There are a lot of scenarios we could ponder about why it seemed that the Yellow Jackets were so outmatched, but the one that resonates the most with me is that the early season hype took its toll on their preparation. Although it may seem overstated in today’s game, it can’t go understated the importance of scheduling tougher opponents early to condition both the mind and body for games such as the one against the Golden Domers.

This was far from the output Georgia Tech needed to have and the loss by Georgia Tech summed up the weekend for the conference, as many teams went into their games with so much hype, showed life near the end of the game, but left many questions to be answered.
