The last SEC football game of the day is the most difficult to predict because the two teams involved are so unpredictable.

Missouri picked up an ugly win last week against UConn, beating the Huskies 9-6 at home with stellar defense and just enough offense. Mizzou is now 3-0 on the season, yet is 0-3 against the spread. Kentucky lost a hard-fought battle with Florida, 14-9 in Lexington. That brings the Wildcats’ record against the spread to 1-2, with the win coming straight up as an underdog on the road against South Carolina in Week 2.

The back-to-back SEC East champions still don’t know whether running back Russell Hansbrough will be available (he’s missed the last two games with an ankle injury) or whether or not quarterback Maty Mauk will take care of the football (he’s tossed four interceptions this season, and was benched late in the game last week). The only thing they can count on is a solid defensive effort. Mizzou has held opponents to 213.7 total yards per game this season, which is the best mark in the SEC and ranks No. 4 nationally.

The Wildcats have shown flashes this season, and are actually favored to win Saturday, but have been inconsistent on both sides of the football this season. UK allowed 479 yards to Louisiana-Lafayette and 417 yards to South Carolina, but held Florida to 245 yards last week. The Kentucky offense gained 400-plus yards in the first two weeks, but managed just 241 against the Gators.

With so much unpredictability on both sides, take Mizzou to pick up another ugly win because the Tigers have the most consistent defense in the SEC.
