The Texas defense has struggled for most of the game but defensive end Hassan Ridgeway made a huge play against Mason Rudolph and Oklahoma State with a “Fat Guy TD”
For most of the game, it seemed as though Jerrod Heard would have to do all the work for the Longhorns to get a win, but Charlie Strong’s defense just made a huge play.
Oklahoma State has had no problems driving on the Longhorns, but their success was foiled when Texas defensive end Hassan Ridgeway sacked Mason Rudolph and forced a fumble. Not only did Ridgeway cause the turnover, he picked up the ball and ran it back 34 yards for a touchdown.
The scoop-and-score means the Longhorns are right back in the game, they only trail 14-13.
Charlie Strong is known for his defensive prowess, but this season the Longhorn’s defense hasn’t been effective. Nearly every team they’ve played has been able to cut through their unit like butter.
Mason Rudolph has looked great in this game so far for the Cowboys, so the fact that Texas was able to get a break like this is huge in their hopes of pulling off the upset.
If the Longhorns can continue to create turnovers and keep the score close, they could be able to upset the Cowboys.
