10. Penn State (2-1)
Big time coach. Big time quarterback. Bowl win. No scholarship reductions. Most of us expected Penn State to take a healthy jump this year. But there are still major flaws with this team.
Penn State has played no one yet. The Nittany Lions still have a loss – and it was ugly. Temple sacked Christian Hackenberg ten times and completely stuffed this team after the first two drives in a 27-10 win.
Since then Penn State has shown improvement in beating the likes of Buffalo, Rutgers and San Diego State decidedly, but not in dominating fashion. The offensive line has trouble pushing anyone around and the roster is talented, but thin.
Penn State plays the final non-conference game in the entire conference and it has to win or else that bowl eligibility may not matter.
