Big Ten Weather is Back

If you have every lived in the Midwest you know how bad the weather can be once the calendar turns to October. While most of the east coast and southeastern part of the country was dealing with rain on Saturday, the Midwest saw overcast, chilly and rainy climate across the region. The Ohio State-Indiana, Purdue-Michigan State and Nebraska-Illinois games were most affected by the weather.

Low-scoring games are something to look for if the weather continues. All seven games involving Big Ten teams went under the closing over/under point total. The only game that really came close to going over was Ohio State-Indiana, and 45 of the 61 points in that game came in the second half.

I expect the betting market to correct itself and post lower totals going forward. I wouldn’t blindly bet under in Big Ten games because wet weather can sometimes lead to more turnovers and short fields. There might be some opportunities to bet an over if the adjustment is too much. Make sure to check the temperature, chance of rain and wind before putting any money down on a Big Ten game.
