Ohio State looks like Florida State in 2014

When you win a National Championship, there’s a target on your back and opponents give their best effort. This could be said about Florida State in 2014 and can also be said about Ohio State this year.

The Buckeyes survived a scare from Indiana on Saturday. The Hoosiers had a chance to tie the game late but their last pass attempt fell incomplete in the end zone, and the final was 34-27.

The biggest takeaway from this game was Ohio State’s offense continuing to struggle. They did end up with 517 yards of total offense but 195 of those yards came on three runs by Ezekiel Elliott. Take that out and the Buckeyes only accumulated 322 yards on one of the worst defenses in the Big Ten.

It will be interesting to see what Urban Meyer does at quarterback now. Cardale Jones is not playing at the level he did to end the season and we all know that J.T. Barrett could start for almost any team in the country.

Ohio State is winning games but they have been by close margins, and there’s debate if they are even the best team in the country. Similar things were said about Florida State 12 months ago.
