His Heisman campaign in contingent on the success of the Golden Bears, but the team only goes as far as he can take them. Goff isn’t just playing for a Heisman this season, he could lead his team to a Pac-12 North Championship and put himself in position to be the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Sonny Dykes has handed the keys over to Jared Goff, leading a very pass heavy attack with two stud receivers in Kenny Lawler and Bryce Treggs.
In Cal’s first two conference games (Washington and Washington State), he threw 40+ times, and has squeaked out some wins with the help of his defense to seal the game.
Now Cal has a big showdown in Salt Lake this weekend, taking on the No. 5 ranked Utah Utes. With ESPN’s College GameDay on the scene, and the “Mighty Utah Student Section” (MUSS), Jared Goff will get his first big test of the season. Utah has been one of the best defenses when it comes to turnovers, snagging seven interceptions this season.
