Utah is hosting College GameDay and it’s homecoming with Cal on the schedule and the Utes will wear some awesome throwback uniforms for the game.

Utah is approaching their biggest game in their young Pac-12 lifespan, with homecoming and College GameDay all in one, in their top 25 showdown vs the California Golden Bears. The Utes will now dress with lots of swag, debuting throwback uniforms, honoring and incorporating elements from the 1960s to the 1990s.

Now, the Utah Athletic department had unveiled the new uniforms back in early August, and said they will debut on October 10 vs California for homecoming. But the department probably doubted that the Utes would have ascended to No. 5 in the polls, handily taking care of Michigan and Oregon en route.

This game has huge Pac-12 implications for both divisions. California could assert themselves as the real deal, and challenge Stanford for the North, taking advantage of what seems to be a down year for the Oregon Ducks. Meanwhile for Utah, they can prove that they’re here to stay, and compete with UCLA, USC, and Arizona State for the Pac-12 South.

Since the Pac-10 has expanded to the Pac-12 back in 2011, there have been three different winners in the south. And since 2012, there have been three different teams winning in the last three years; UCLA (2012), Arizona State (2013), and Arizona (2014).

Utah has already grabbed the attention of the Pac-12, and has put themselves on a national platform. A big win here vs California on Saturday, and the Utes are well on their way to becoming the fourth team to win the Pac-12 South.
