Georgia was embarrassed by Alabama last weekend by a score of 38-10. It was the worst home loss for the Bulldogs since 1995. However, because the game was a cross-divisional matchup, Georgia still controls its own destiny in the SEC East.

Many things went wrong against the Tide. Quarterback Greyson Lambert was benched in a game in which he finished 10-for-24 for just 86 yards and his first interception of the season. Brice Ramsey was even worse and completed just one pass while being intercepted twice. The Bulldogs failed to protect either QB well and the pair had eight passes batted down at the line of scrimmage.

The biggest concern, however, is that the Dawgs cannot afford to let Alabama beat them two weeks in a row. Meaning, if Georgia spent a little too much time thinking about what went wrong against the Crimson Tide, they won’t be properly prepared for Tennessee.

The Vols suffered their own disappointing loss last week against Arkansas. After taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, Tennessee struggled to move the football and found themselves squandering a two-touchdown lead for the third time this season. Now 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play, this week’s matchup is a must-win if the Vols plan to take another step forward as a program in 2015 on the heels of last year’s 7-6 record. Tennessee was supposed to compete for a division title this season, and if they fall to 0-3, they will essentially be eliminated from contention – and they would be in danger of failing to make a bowl game.

Like Alabama last week, Tennessee is backed into a corner and fighting for their lives. However, the Vols haven’t yet proven themselves capable of putting up the kind of fight the Tide did last week. Expect Tennessee to keep it close, and maybe even build an early lead, but fall short of the upset and fail to cover.
