The Florida Gators picked up the program’s biggest win in three years with a 38-10 victory over Ole Miss at home last week, which was the largest margin of victory ever for the Gators over a team ranked in the nation’s top three, and it was the second straight big win for the 5-0 Gators. The unexpected dominance Florida showed Saturday sent the Gators all the way to No. 11 in the AP Top 25, and has given them sole possession of first place in the SEC.

That’s all well and good, but with a trip to Columbia, Missouri this week, there may not be a better opportunity in the country this week for the hangover effect to impact a game.

Florida has been led by a defense that has allowed just 16.6 points and 304.2 yards per game this year, and the offense is getting better every week with Will Grier leading the unit. Grier was 24-for-29 passing for a career-high 271 yards and four touchdowns last week against the Rebels.

However, by allowing an average of 12.0 points and 261.6 total yards of offense this season, Missouri has actually been even better defensively than Florida. The Tigers also have a talented young quarterback, Drew Lock, who was 21-for-28 for 136 yards and two touchdowns last week against South Carolina in his first career start and gave the team a lift after the inconsistent play and eventual suspension of Maty Mauk.

Mizzou is also trending in the right direct running the football. Ish Witter had 98 rushing yards week and senior Russell Hansbrough has worked himself back onto the field after an early season ankle injury that cost him two full games and parts of two others.

Home underdogs are difficult to pass up, and even though Missouri has struggled mightily on offense this season, the Tigers still have a defense capable of competing in the SEC East. The Gators may win, but take the Tigers to cover.
