Things are not going well in Athens. Two weeks ago, Georgia was embarrassed by Alabama. Last week, the Bulldogs lost star running back Nick Chubb to a severe knee injury on the first play of the game against Tennessee, then built a 21-point lead over the Vols only to lose 38-31 in Knoxville. Following the back-to-back losses, the Dawgs are now a full two-games behind Florida in the SEC East standings – a deficit it will be very difficult to overcome without their best offensive player, a struggling quarterback and a defense that has allowed 38 points in two straight games.

Missouri is also struggling. The Tigers have lost two of their last three games, both to SEC opponents, and are also two games back of Florida in the division standings, but because of last week’s 21-3 loss to the Gators would need to win out and have Florida lose three times to make it back to the SEC Championship for the third consecutive year. Mizzou has a strong defense (opponents have scored 13.5 points and gained 274.2 total yards per game this season), but the offense is one of the worst in the league.

True freshman quarterback Drew Lock, who was a disappointing 16-for-39 for 151 yards and two interceptions against Florida, is expected to start for the third consecutive week and he will need to play much better to lead the Tigers to a big upset victory.

Despite their recent struggles, Georgia is the better team, Sony Michel is capable of picking up the load with Chubb injured, and the Bulldogs have more to play for. Should Florida lose to LSU as expected, the Oct. 31 matchup in Jacksonville would allow the Bulldogs to pull ahead in the race for the division title. With that in mind, expect a motivated Georgia squad to win big.
