Mississippi State Bulldogs
- Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State
- Mississippi State -15.5
Joining Mississippi on my upset watch list is fellow in state rival Mississippi State. Just like the Rebels, the Bulldogs will be tested this weekend by a smaller but dangerous football team in the form of Louisiana Tech. It’s the battle of the Bulldogs this weekend in Starkville.
Dan Mullen’s Bulldogs have yet to get that signature win and already have two losses in the SEC against fellow Western Division opponents LSU and Texas A&M. The win over Auburn seems less than impressive now that the Tiger’s preseason expectations haven’t lived up to the hype. Yet they still have one of the more dangerous quarterbacks in the country with Dak Prescott.
On the other side you have a quarterback with experience in the SEC himself and that’s former Florida Gator Jeff Driskel. Driskel, under Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz, has really come into his own since transferring, putting up some praise worthy numbers this year. Combine that with one of the best running backs in the NCAA, Kenneth Dixon, and you can see why this team could catch State off guard.
It took Kansas State triple overtime to put away the pesky Bulldogs in Manhattan and their only other loss came on the road to conference foe Western Kentucky who are sitting just outside the Top 25 with a superstar quarterback of their own in Brandon Doughty. That game was decided by 3 points. It could end up a dreary day for fans in the Magnolia State on Saturday.
