Safeties
Shalom Luani (Washington State)
One of the leaders in the Pac-12 when it comes to tackles, he’s able to attack from all sides of the field. He’s also been able to nab three interceptions, and take one the distance. Forcing two fumbles on the season, Luani has had a huge impact for a Washington State team that constantly needs stops to allow their offense to keep scoring.
Jordan Simone (Arizona State)
Probably the conferences best corner heading into the season, the senior leader of the Sun Devil defense has lived up to his potential. The Todd Graham defense is certainly one of the better defenses in the conference, and as a former walk-on, he’s all you could ask for. He’s totaled 63 tackles, with eight tackles for a loss. He also has three sacks on the season. He’s a blitzing safety, but he’s also effective in coverage, bringing down two interceptions.
Marcus Williams (Utah)
Williams leads the conference in interceptions with four, and has added four tackles. Utah’s secondary is ball hawking, and with Williams, as well as Dominique Hatfield, this is a defense that can ruin a quarterbacks day. Utah might have one of the better defenses in the country on all three levels, but the defensive backs that are rotated in this defense are some of the best in the nation, and safety Marcus Williams has proved to be a leader as a sophomore.
