Utah Utes

I believe preseason predictions are only done to make us all look bad come mid-October and there may not be one I missed more on than the Utes who I had pegged for a fifth place finish in the Pac-12 South. I bought into the hype at USC and UCLA and thought Arizona and Arizona State had enough pieces in place to hold off Utah.

Halfway through the season, it would be a stunner of epic proportions if Kyle Whittingham’s team doesn’t win the division by two games. The aforementioned teams have far more flaws than the Utes and Whittingham may be the Coach of the Year at the halfway point. Quarterback Travis Wilson is playing his best football of his career and brought some much needed balance to the offense to compliment stud running back Devontae Booker.

The defense and special teams were outstanding for Utah last year and both units remain sharp this year as they not have an explosive offense to give Whittingham his best team in his tenure and I don’t think they’ll slow down in the second half.
