California Golden Bears
California probably wasn’t on anyone’s radar heading into this season, although some had them as a sleeper pick in the Pac-12 North. They’ve come out to roaring 5-1 start, with their lone loss coming from Utah in a close one, despite 5 Jared Goff interceptions.
They’ve been able to skate by their schedule, and almost came out of Austin, Texas with a loss. This is a high-powered offense, but this team will be tested with their remaining schedule. A trip to UCLA, back home for USC and up to Eugene. Then they have a road trip to Stanford and host Arizona State to end the season.
They might not be able to survive this schedule, but they’ll be able to make a name for themselves and assert themselves as a true threat in the Pac-12. Although, without Jared Goff next year, we’ll see how they replace him and move forward.
Overall Grade: A
Next: Oregon
