Mississippi State Bulldogs vs Kentucky Wildcats
Point Spread: Mississippi State -11.5
Sticking with teams from the Bluegrass, Kentucky earns a spot on the list and for the second straight week I have the Bulldogs on upset alert. With college basketball just around the corner, Big Blue Nation is focused on another run to the Final Four, but it’s the UK football team that has surpassed expectations in Lexington.
The Wildcats are off to a great start 4-2 with two close losses at home against Florida and Auburn, games they easily could have won. They have quite the tandem in junior quarterback Patrick Towles and sophomore Stanley “Boom” Williams. UK definitely looks like a team that will go bowling this December/January.
Mississippi State (5-2) is a tough team to figure out. Dan Mullen still has arguably one of the best QB’s in the nation w/ Dak Prescott. The dual threat quarterback has put up some incredible numbers while in Starkville, but it doesn’t always transfer to wins. They have yet to beat a ranked team with losses to both LSU and Texas A&M.
Competing in the SEC West is a difficult task and the Bulldogs have answered the call in recent years, but can this team recapture the magic of last year? Kentucky, on the other hand is desperate for another win in the SEC having been so close to a 3-0 mark. Expect a close game in Stark Vegas this Saturday which could result in another late 4th quarter drive leading either team to victory.
