Kirby Smart – Defensive Coordinator, Alabama Crimson Tide

I’m including Smart in this list because he’s a candidate for practically every coaching vacancy that comes up, and he’s probably one of the most qualified coordinators in the nation.

That said, he hasn’t accepted any head coach offers yet (and he’s had some good ones) because Alabama has always met or upped the offer to keep him in Tuscaloosa. One of these days he’s just going to say no and take a job somewhere else, and that may be this season with the South Carolina vacancy.

But if Kirby were available, he’d probably be (and should be) the first call the Bulldogs made. He’s a Georgia alumni, and a heck of a coach. The Bulldog Nation would have to trust that Smart would hire the best offensive staff available since his focus is on defense.
