Major Applewhite – Offensive Coordinator, Houston Cougars
This would be an intriguing hire if it were to ever happen. Applewhite has received a lot of positive feedback from his young coaching career, but he may not yet be ready to handle the big chair in a major SEC program.

While he did work on Alabama’s 2007 staff as an offensive coordinator and QB coach, most of Applewhite’s time has been spent in the Southwest, at Texas, Rice and Houston, where is he currently offensive coordinator and QB coach.
The former Texas QB has some great schemes, and mixes things up nicely, as shown by Houston’s prolific 45.7 points per game this season, good for fifth in the nation. Of all the candidates on this list, Applewhite would be the possible hire that would intrigue me the most.
