A starting guard on the undefeated 1986 Penn State national championship team, and a three-year starter for the Nittany Lions, Rutland, Vermont-born Steve Wisniewski was also selected as an All-American in both 1987 and 1988 by The Sporting News, which made him only the second Nittany Lions offensive linemen to be honored as an All-American in two separate seasons. He was also one of only two Penn State linemen to be designated as the team’s MVP.

After his college career, Wisniewski was selected in the second round of the 1989 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, but was then traded to the Los Angeles Raiders. Wisniewski played 13 seasons with the Raiders in Los Angeles and Oakland, and started all 206 of the games he played during his career, including a streak of 175 in a row.

“Wiz” was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times as a guard with the Raiders (1991-98 and 2000), and was a First-Team All-Pro selection in 1991 and 1992, a seven-time team captain, a member of the 50-Year All-Raiders team, and earned a spot on the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade Team.
