The Michigan Wolverines will look to bounce back this week after having extra time to think about their heartbreaking loss to Michigan State two weeks ago. Luckily, the Wolverines have a matchup this week with a Minnesota team that has struggled this year.
Michigan still boasts the nation’s top defense, and that’s been the key to success the year. The unit has had a week off to get over the loss and get things right again.
Michigan is led on offense by quarterback Jake Rudock. He’s had a decent year with 1,303 yards, but his five touchdowns to six interceptions needs to be improved. De’Veon Smith leads the Wolverines in rushing with 436 yards and four touchdowns.
The Golden Gophers were off last week after getting blown out versus Nebraska two weeks ago. With high expectations heading into this season, things haven’t gone as planned for the Gophers. The offense has been anemic at times and is ranked as one of the worst in the nation.
Luckily for Minnesota, the defense has stood out. The Gophers are ranked 28th in total defense.
Michigan is likely still upset after the loss to Michigan State and will look to take out its anger on the Gophers. Don’t forget that the Wolverines were playing some of the best football in the nation, especially on defense, before that loss. Also don’t forget that had it not been for one of the biggest fluke plays ever, Michigan would have one loss and be ranked in the top-10 right now.
The point spread is big for a road team, but Michigan will get back on track this week. The Wolverines’ tough defense will limit the scoring chances for the Gophers.
