If you ask any head coach or defensive coordinator in the Big Ten what name puts the most fear in their hearts, if they’re honest they’ll come up with one name. That name is Ezekiel Elliott. So far this season Elliott leads the Big Ten in rushing and is third nationally with 1130 yards on 167 carries. He leads the conference with 13 touchdowns and is second in the Big Ten averaging 6.8 yards per carry.

On October 4, Elliott nearly single-handedly beat the Indiana Hoosiers in a game where the Buckeyes were getting all they could handle from the home upstart Hoosiers. Elliott went out and rushed for 274 yards on 23 carries, and scored three touchdowns of 55 yards, 65 yards and 75 yards all in the second half, all of which you can see below.

He also tied for the second-most yards in a single game in Ohio State history, and the Buckeyes squeaked out a hard-fought 34-27 road victory.

According to Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, Elliott has easily been the Buckeyes’ most consistent player, and it’s hard to disagree. Without a doubt Elliott is the single most important part to the Buckeye puzzle. If Ohio State is to have a chance to repeat as College Football Playoff national champions, they will need him to be every bit the scariest player in the Big Ten.
