It wasn’t always pretty, but Ole Miss survived a trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium with a 27-19 victory over the Auburn Tigers. The win gave the Rebels a 4-1 record in SEC play, and because one of those victories came against Alabama earlier this season, Ole Miss still controls its destiny in the SEC West.

All-American candidate wide receiver Laquon Treadwell was the player of the game for the Rebels, and caught seven passes for 114 yards and what proved to be the game-winning touchdown with 10:13 left in the game. Treadwell now has four consecutive 100-yard receiving games, something no SEC receiver has accomplished since 2001.

Derrick Jones was on the receiving end of quarterback Chad Kelly’s other touchdown – a 45-yarder in the third quarter. Kelly completed 33 of 51 pass attempts for 381 yards, and his two TDs give him 20 for the season, which is the most in the SEC.

However, Kelly was also intercepted twice – both of which put an end to promising drives for the Rebels and has now thrown multiple picks in each of his last three games and has at least one interception in six games dating back to the win over Alabama Sept. 19.

One week after a dominant performance against Texas A&M, the Rebels struggled a bit on defense against Auburn and allowed 427 yards – 302 of them through the air, which included three passes of 44 yards or more.

But, on the bright side, star defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche was back on the field after missing the game against the Aggies, and Nkemdiche helped to stabilize the Ole Miss front line, which stuffed the Auburn rushing attack to 125 yards on 41 carries.
