It was a troubling week in Athens as fans and multiple local media members called for head Mark Richt (or at least offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer) to be fired, then rumors surfaced that predicted defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt would be the first member of the coaching staff to go.

However, when the team kicked off Saturday against Kentucky, Pruitt, Schottenheimer and Richt were all present and Georgia responded to the doubters with a solid 27-3 victory.

Freshman wide receiver Terry Godwin, playing Wildcat quarterback, scored on a 28-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, which was the first TD for the Bulldogs since the fourth quarter of the Oct. 10 game against Tennessee. The Bulldogs settled for three field goal attempts (and made two), but also scored two more TDs in the team’s best offensive performance in nearly a month.

Quarterback Greyson Lambert started and saw the bulk of the playing time one week after seeing no action against Florida and completed six of 13 passes for 64 yards and a ten-yard TD pass to Keith Marshall. Marshall added 60 rushing yards on 13 carries. Brice Ramsey also saw action behind center, and threw for 26 yards on 4-for-6 passing, and punted three times as well. Faton Bauta, who played the entire game at QB against Florida, did not play.

Running back Sony Michel gained 165 rushing yards and a touchdown on 24 carries – his best rushing game of the season despite playing practically one-handed because of a cast on his right wrist.

The Bulldogs were dominant on defense and allowed just 180 yards of total offense and eight first downs. Dominick Sanders picked off two passes.
