It may seem harsh to drop Texas A&M from No. 5 to No. 10 in this week’s SEC Power Rankings, but the Aggies were completely dominated by Auburn at home in a 26-10 loss and the Tigers, Tennessee and Arkansas all deserve to move up following big wins. And, let’s face it, all three teams look much better than A&M at the moment. The Aggies are now 6-3 overall after losing three of their last four games.

One week after true freshman Kyler Murray looked like the second coming of Johnny Manziel in his first career start, Murray was benched after he completed just 13 of 23 pass attempts for 105 yards and three interceptions. Murray added 37 rushing yards on eight carries, and was sacked once. Jake Hubanek was 5-for-12 passing for 32 yards and a touchdown in relief.

Running back Tra Carson ran for 109 yards on 21 carries, which was his second consecutive 100-yard game and the fifth of the season for the 240-pound senior. The Auburn defense (which came in ranked next to last in the SEC in rushing defense giving up nearly 200 yards per game) held A&M to 166 rushing yards on 38 attempts.

The Texas A&M offense was the biggest issue, but the Aggies also struggled to stop the run. Auburn ran for 311 yards and averaged 6.0 yards per carry, and the Tigers did not turn the football over.

A&M should get back on track next week against Western Carolina.
