With Ole Miss falling out of the rankings, Florida has zero wins over ranked teams this season. They draw South Carolina, Florida Atlantic, and Florida State on their remaining schedule, and a sweep of those teams still might not impress the committee all that much. By the point, Florida State would be a three-loss team, at least, with a chance of slipping out of the top 25.
But then there’s the SEC Championship Game. You would think, at this point, it’s Alabama that will represent the SEC West. A win vs Alabama would be monumental for Florida’s case to enter the College Football Playoffs. Sweeping their next three opponents is very do-able for this team, but beating Alabama will be a tall order, that might not go so well for the Gators.
But that win could be what puts Florida into the playoff, especially with the current dominance of Alabama.
