Fenway Park adds football field for Notre Dame-Boston College game (Photo)
Fenway Park is one of the best baseball stadiums in the world but it’s making a seamless transition to being a football stadium for the Nov. 21 Shamrock Series game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Boston College Eagles.

College football meets Major League Baseball next weekend when Notre Dame travels to Boston to take on Boston College in the home of the Boston Red Sox inside historic Fenway Park.
The oldest stadium in MLB is transitioning from a baseball cathedral to a football stadium and the Fenway Park twitter account shared a few pictures to document the process.
It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the yard markers running from the home dugout to the right field wall and the diamond, dirt, bases, pitcher’s mound, on-deck circles, etc are all gone. Baseball purists may take issue with a football game played inside Fenway, but I’m all about having fun, and this will be a fun venue to host a college football game.
The first photo shows the lines going in at Fenway. Looks a lot different from what you’re used to seeing, right?

It’s all starting to come together nicely as the end zones are getting painted. Here’s what the Notre Dame end zone looks like as you get a view of the lights and entire surrounding areas.

And here’s what it looks like if you sit at the 50 yard line on top of the green monster. Could these be the most unique vantage point to watch a college football game of all-time?

This looks glorious and Boston Red Sox, Boston College, Notre Dame and fans of sport in general should do what they can to make sure they can take advantage of this rare opportunity to watch a college football game in a baseball stadium.

The Nov. 21 game will be the first such game since a Dec. 1 game in 1968, so make sure you get tickets.
As for the game, it’ll be a chance to see the No. 4 Fighting Irish go against one of the best defenses in the nation against the Eagles who will look to pull off the upset and spoil their rivals chances of making an appearance in the College Football Playoff later this year.
