Oregon isn’t the Oregon of last year, or even the Oregon of the last four or five years, but this is still a very dangerous team that could end Stanford’s perfect run the Pac-12. Their defense is a liability at times, but Vernon Adams can lead the offense to outscore anyone.
But Stanford’s offense will match up extremely well against the Ducks. With Christian McCaffrey loaded in the backfield, and Kevin Hogan slinging the rock, this will be a shootout. Stanford has put up points all season long, 30+ in every win, and it should be no different this time.
Home field won’t give Stanford much of an advantage, which is why I think the Ducks keep it closer than most would expect. Many wrote off Oregon after suffering three losses early in the season, but those three losses aren’t terrible, with two coming from top 12 teams.
Stanford needs to be careful to stay on top of the Ducks early, because the offense only needs one to play strike, where Stanford needs longer, methodical drives. This 10 points spread is huge, and either gives Oregon no credit, or Stanford a lot. Regardless, it’s hard to imagine that even Stanford can pull out a 10 point win at home vs this team.
