8. Nebraska (5-6, 3-4)
Nebraska is doing its best to salvage Mike Riley’s inaugural season in Lincoln. Following the 38-36 upset of Michigan State, the Huskers avoided a letdown with a solid 31-14 win at Rutgers. Tommy Armstrong threw three touchdowns and Imani Cross rushed for 90 yards. Meanwhile the Black Shirts made an appearance, giving up just 259 total yards. Nebraska gets a breather before welcoming Iowa to town. An upset over the 10-0 Hawkeyes is not a stretch.
7. Penn State (7-3, 4-2)
Beat a good team. The Nittany Lions have had a few shots and blew its latest chance at Northwestern in the final few seconds. Penn State gets two more opportunities with Michigan and Michigan State. Right now, the resume is way too thin for the Lions to roar any further up the standings with seven wins against teams with a combined record of 28-42 and only 3-25 vs the Big Ten.
