St. Petersburg Bowl

  • Who: Louisiana Tech vs. Memphis
  • Where: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 26, 11 a.m. (ESPN)

Will Justin Fuente be on the sidelines for Memphis in this one or will he already be the head coach at Missouri by this time? I’ll be watching to see Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch does in this game as he looks to put on a show for NFL scouts.

Hyundai Sun Bowl

  • Who: Pittsburgh vs. Washington State
  • Where: Sun Bowl, El Paso, Texas
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 26, 2 p.m. (CBS)

Love what Pat Narduzzi is doing at Pitt and thinks he’ll have his team competing for division titles in the next year or two. Mike Leach’s team has been one of the bigger surprises in the nation this year and he’s must-see TV in a big game.

Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl

  • Who: Middle Tennessee vs. Miami
  • Where: Cotton Bowl, Dallas
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 26, 2:20 p.m. (ESPN)

How far has Miami football fallen under the watch of fired head coach Al Golden? The Canes are playing Middle Tennessee in a bowl game. That says it all.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl

  • Who: Florida State vs. Nebraska
  • Where: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 26, 3:30 p.m. (ABC)

Two of college football’s most prestigious programs playing in a baseball stadium the day after Christmas is all sorts of weird, but that’s what we have here.

Camping World Independence Bowl

  • Who: Louisville vs. Arizona State
  • Where: Independence Stadium, Shreveport, Louisiana
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 26, 5:45 p.m. (ESPN)

Arizona State is one of the biggest disappointments in college football this year and Louisville isn’t too far behind.

Foster Farms Bowl

  • Who: Penn State vs. Utah
  • Where: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 26, 9:15 p.m. (ESPN)

A couple of weeks ago the Utah Utes were thought of as a potential playoff team but a pair of losses has ended that conversation. Penn State has been okay this year, although they haven’t beaten a good team, and this likely is the last game for Christian Hackenberg in a Nittany Lions uniform.
