Military Bowl Presented by Northrop Grumman

  • Who: Virginia Tech vs. Navy
  • Where: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Annapolis, Maryland
  • When: Monday, Dec. 28, 2:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Navy has only lost to Notre Dame this year and will be playing a home game, but Frank Beamer will be the emotional favorite since he announced he’s retiring at the end of the year. If Virginia Tech gets in it will be the 23rd straight year the Hokies played in a bowl game.

Quick Lane Bowl

  • Who: Central Michigan vs. Minnesota
  • Where: Ford Field, Detroit
  • When:Monday, Dec. 28, 5 p.m. (ESPN2)

Will be the first bowl game for former interim-turned-head coach Tracy Claeys since the abrupt retirement of former Gophers head coach Jerry Kill due to health reasons in the middle of the season.

NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl

  • Who: Colorado State vs. Old Dominion
  • Where: Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

How about the job Bobby Wilder has done in getting Old Dominion in position for a bowl game in their second season in the FBS.

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl

  • Who: Utah State vs. Indiana
  • Where: Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, Texas
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2 p.m. (ESPN)

Indiana running back Jordan Howard is one of the nation’s best running backs who doesn’t get any national attention. He’s the player to watch in this projected game.

Russell Athletic Bowl

  • Who: North Carolina vs. West Virginia
  • Where: Orlando Citrus Bowl, Orlando, Florida
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 29, 5:30 p.m. (ESPN)

There’s going to be so many points scored in this one. UNC has been on fire of late but don’t think they win the ACC to crash the playoff party. Meanwhile, Dana Holgorsen has his Mountaineers running the ball with nice efficiency, which is a stark contrast to his air-raid days.

AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl

  • Who: Texas A&M vs. Texas Tech
  • Where: NRG Stadium, Houston
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 29, 9 p.m. (ESPN)

It’s been a disappointing season for Texas A&M and they’ll try to end it on a high note against former Aggie offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and the Red Raiders.
