8. National Signing Day

Next to the National Championship Game, college football’s National Signing Day is as close to a holiday as you will find. It certainly curbs the American work productivity factor while going on.

This is the day filled with hope for fans of every program, when they all believe that this is the crop of recruits who can finally take them to the promised land. The mystery surrounding the top recruits and where they’ll decide to commit is as full of drama as any long-running soap opera.

NSD has become a huge stage and a media spectacle, almost to the point of making these young high school players celebrities before their time. The pressure is tremendous, and the tension can be unbearable.

National Signing Day is the unofficial start of “This could be our year!” every season.
