5. The Iron Bowl

Much like Michigan vs. Ohio State, the annual contest between Alabama and Auburn has a life and history all it’s own – the Iron Bowl is one of the big events during college football’s rivalry week. Since 1893 these two have been going at each other, and there is only an 8-game difference in the all-time series (in favor of Alabama).

Unlike The Game, these are two teams who reside in the same state – less than three hours apart – and have a disdain for each other that can only be described in one word…

Ugly.

There’s hatred, and then there’s what Auburn and Alabama feel for each other. On top of all the decades of contempt, this is a game that also has a tendency to carry a lot of meaning in terms of the SEC and national championships.

Fans nationwide love to tune into this game just to watch a couple of SEC teams literally try to destroy each other, physically and emotionally. There are few games that carry the feeling or tradition of the Iron Bowl. And even if you’re not an SEC fan, it’s okay to admit you enjoy watching.
