21. Cold Weather Outdoor Games
Football is a game meant to be played in the elements, and only nine of 128 FBS teams play in an indoor stadium. That means lots of great cold weather games late in the season, complete with snow, ice and steam rising from the heads of helmetless players on the sideline.
There’s nothing better than seeing snow on the field at the Big House or in the Horseshoe, and the chilly temps in Madison, Wi. don’t keep fans away or from “jumping around” (in fact, that probably helps them keep warm).
Fans wrapped in blankets, with thick wool sweaters and flannel underneath, sipping on a hot beverage are a picturesque site, and you know it’s late season football when the toboggan caps and rep scarves make their appearances in the stands.
Cold weather, that’s football weather.
