2. Michigan State (11-1, 7-1)

Michigan State is playing its best football at the best time. After struggling past a string of marginal squads and tripping up at Nebraska, Mark Dantonio’s 14-point underdogs upset Ohio State then pounded Penn State 55-16. The Spartans are healthier than they’ve been since September. Connor Cook’s shoulder is still a cause for concern, but the senior was able to play every meaningful minute on Saturday and appears ready for the Big Ten Championship Game.

1. Iowa (12-0, 8-0)

Few would argue that Iowa has rarely looked like the best team in the Big Ten. Only a few Iowans would consider Hawkeye talent to compare to Wisconsin or Nebraska, let alone Ohio State, Michigan or Michigan State. Results matter most though and perfection its difficult to argue with perfection. Iowa turned in another workmanlike effort in disposing of Nebraska 28-20.

The Hawkeyes were dominated on the stat sheet: total yards (433-250). first downs (22-11) and time of possession (36-24 minutes). Yet C.J. Beathard protected the ball and his defensive teammates took it away four times. Iowa takes that formula to its first Big Ten Championship Game.
