11. UCF Knights – Scott Frost replaces George O’Leary

Scott Frost turned down a chance to coach at Syracuse to take the job at UCF after the Knights went winless, two years after they won the Fiesta Bowl behind quarterback Blake Bortles. He doesn’t have head coaching experience, but Frost has played for and coached under some of the best head coaches the college game has seen.

Frost played under Bill Walsh and Tom Osborne at Stanford and Nebraska, respectively, before moving on to the NFL where he played Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick with the New York Jets and later with Jon Gruden on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At Oregon, Frost coached under Chip Kelly and Mark Helfrich, two of the best offensive minds in recent college football history. You can’t ask for much better tutoring along the way than what Frost received and I think Frost is well-equipped to take UCF out of the basement in the FBS with the facilities and recruiting ground he has to work with now. It won’t come easy or quickly for Frost, but I think UCF is in a bowl game by 2017.
