24. Bowling Green Falcons – Mike Jinks replaces Dino Babers
Mike Jinks replaces Dino Babers who left Bowling Green after two seasons with the Falcons. Babers leaves Jinks a a nice roster, although quarterback Matt Johnson is out of eligibility, but he this team won the MAC Championship in 2015 and are back-to-back division champions.
Jinks comes to Bowling Green after coaching at Texas Tech from 2013-2015 where he coached running backs and served as assistant head coach last year. He helped DeAndre Washington lead the Big 12 in rushing and become the first back to eclipse 1,000 yards in a season since 1998.
But his only head coaching experience is on the high school level where he made seven stops from 1996-2012 with his longest stop being from 2006-2016 at Steele High School in Cibolo, Texas where he led a brand new football program to a Class 5A Division II Texas state championship in 2010 and made the finals the next year.
He was a big winner on the high school level, but he has zero experience as a coordinator on the college level and now he’s the head coach of the MAC champions, so there’s a lot of risk here.
