Keeping it in the Big 12 could certainly be an exciting option for Knight. Playing against his old team, no matter how much he still respects them, would be an attractive scenario. Kansas State would certainly love a scrambling quarterback like him to place into their own quarterback battle, though Knight would almost certainly be the frontrunner in any such competition.

Jesse Ertz could be a viable threat for Knight next season if the junior-to-be comes back from the knee injury he suffered in the team’s opener this year. Don’t consider their current QB Joe Hubener out of that potential starting struggle either, though throwing as many interceptions as touchdowns and completing less than half his passes won’t help his chances.
The 6-6 Wildcats need some major improvements fast so they’re not swallowed up by the deep-pocketed programs in the Big 12. Lucky for them, there’s only a handful of teams (Oklahoma, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma State) in the conference who’ve really stood out on the field. With a top-heavy league, Kansas State could quickly set themselves apart from mediocrity and give Bill Snyder one last good run.
And that could certainly all start by getting Knight, a quarterback who won’t have as much time with the Wildcat playbook as quarterbacks Ertz, Hubener, and up-and-comer Alex Delton, but fits the mold of the multi-dimensional threat Kansas State loves to implement at the most important position on the field.
