Texas Tech: RB DeAndre Washington
There were a number of guys you could make an argument for here such as quarterback Patrick Mahomes or wide receiver Jakeem Grant, but I decided to go with Washington. What stood out to me were his numbers and not that Mahomes’ or Grant’s didn’t, but one could argue that their numbers are a little inflated due to the system they are in.
Washington had a great senior season for Texas Tech’s explosive offense. The diminutive back ran for 1,455 yards, 14 touchdowns and averaged 6.5 yards per carry. He led the conference in rushing yards and was second in rushing touchdowns. Washington was named First-Team All-Big 12 and is projected to be a late round draft pick or an undrafted free agent in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Honorable Mention: QB Patrick Mahomes, WR Jakeem Grant
Next: West Virginia: Wendell Smallwood
