Oklahoma: QB Baker Mayfield
Is there really any question here? Mayfield lead the Sooners to a 11-1 record, a Big 12 Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. He arguably should have been a Heisman finalist over Deshaun Watson of Clemson. Mayfield had more yards and touchdowns, fewer interceptions and a higher quarterback rating than Watson.
The former walk-on had a terrific season. Mayfield passed for 3,389 yards, 35 touchdowns and five interceptions. He finished second nationally in quarterback rating with a 178.8 QBR.
Aside from being an AP Second-Team All-American, Mayfield was a First-Team All-Big 12. He also became just the fourth OU quarterback to win the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Award, joining Sam Bradford, Jason White and Josh Heupel.
Look for Mayfield to be among the Heisman favorites in 2016.
Honorable Mention: Sterling Sheppard, Samaje Perine, LB Eric Striker
