TCU: QB Trevone Boykin
I kept going back and forth between Boykin and wide receiver Josh Doctson, but the deciding factor for me was that if Boykin wasn’t there Doctson’s numbers are probably not the same. Boykin came into the year with loads of Heisman hype. I wouldn’t say that he failed to live up to it, it was just other players just had better years.
Boykin was second in the Big 12 in terms of total offense. He racked up 3,575 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns on the year. He also rushed for 695 yards and nine touchdowns.
His strong play helped lead TCU to a 10-2 record and a spot in the Alamo Bowl against the Oregon Ducks. Boykin also garnered Second-Team All-Big 12 honors.
Honorable Mention: WR Josh Doctson, DE Josh Carraway
Next: Texas: Malik Jefferson
