Toledo vs. Temple
Boca Raton, Florida | FAU Stadium
Dec. 22, 7 p.m. on ESPN
At the beginning of the season you may have shuddered to think of this as a bowl game, but it may actually turn out to be one of the better postseason games this year.
Temple has had an absolutely Cinderella season, culminating in an AAC Championship game appearance. The Owls were taken lightly by far too many teams and ended up upsetting some pretty big names, including Penn State. They did it by fielding one of the best defenses in the nation, coming in at No. 16 in scoring defense and No. 18 in total defense.
Toledo was one of the favorites to win the MAC this season, and looked to be on their way after upsetting Arkansas and Iowa State, but two late-season losses to Northern Illinois and Western Michigan put them behind the 8-ball. Like many teams in the MAC, the Rockets rely on scoring quickly and often, putting up 35 points per game.
Line: Temple, -1.5
This isn’t the easiest game to pick, but should be fun to watch. Bet on Temple’s defense which has been tough all year.
