The Gators and Wolverines both surprised a lot of people with how well they played under new head coaches, and both defenses are among the best in the country.
Florida wasn’t supposed to be this good this fast, and although they didn’t look to be in the same class as Alabama in the SEC Championship game, they still remain one of the top teams in the country. Defensively they rank 8th in scoring defense and 6th in total defense, making them a tough team to beat no matter who you are.
Michigan pitched some mean shutout football during the season, and probably should have won their game with Michigan State. They were simply outplayed by rival Ohio State and nobody knows how they lost that opener to Utah. The Wolverines rank 4th in total defense and 10th in scoring defense, meaning we are probably in for a lot of punts in this bowl.
The difference? The Wolverines have themselves a quarterback in Jake Rudock, and as LSU, FSU and Alabama proved, that’s how you beat the Gators.
Line: Michigan, -4
Can’t argue with that spread. The Wolverines simply have more weapons on offense, and Florida’s defense will get overworked again.
