Luke Falk mastered Mike Leach’s air-raid offense, and led his Washington State Cougars to an unbelievable 8-win season, with the potential reach nine after their bowl vs. Miami.
He led the conference in attempts, completions and passing per yards game, and was fifth in the nation in passing yards, as well. Often throwing the ball 40-plus times a game, there wasn’t much a run game, and so the high-powered offense heavily relied on the arm of Falk. And we saw that in their season finale vs. Washington for the Apple Cup. Not just a plug-and-play air-raid offense, as we saw Falk’s backup, Peyton Bender, struggle mightily.

If Falk wasn’t the master of the air-raid offense, it’s hard to say that Washington State would have found the success that they had. He’s only a sophomore, and will have two more years to dominate the conference, with the potential of climbing up the NFL ranks. If Washington State can find success in their recent recruiting classes, we might see the Cougars compete with the Ducks and Cardinal for the Pac-12 North.
