Group of Five Power Rankings: Houston clear choice for No. 1
Georgia Southern has been gaining traction recently. In 2013, they defeated the Florida Gators without completing a pass, and this year nearly beat the Georgia Bulldogs. The Eagles have won a lot of games in recent years. Their most recent win came after they handily knocked off Bowling Green 58-27 in their bowl game.
Georgia Southern amassed 534 total yards, 450 of which were rushing. Georgia Southern remained turnover-free and forced two turnovers against the Falcons. Quarterback Kevin Ellison threw for 65 yards, one touchdown and ran for 70 yards. Favian Upshaw also had extensive time at the position and ran for 199 yards and four touchdowns.
Don’t be surprised to see the Eagles doing some more big things in 2016. They still might be flying under the radar, but the team is very capable of pulling off some major upsets.
