Group of Five Power Rankings: Houston clear choice for No. 1
Appalachian State deserves consideration to be in the top 25 than they’ve received. All they have received is just a few votes in the Coaches Poll, but double-digit wins should earn more than that. One of Appalachian State’s two losses came to number one Clemson, and the other came to Arkansas State.
Appalachian State actually fell in a big hole to Ohio in the bowl game and was able to jump back in the game by scoring 24 fourth-quarter points. Appalachian State had 200 more yards and kept Ohio to just 3-14 on third downs.
Appalachian State had the No. 11 defense in the nation and the No. 26 offense. They improved greatly on their 7-5 record from last year and this year had the best overall record in the Sun Belt. Quarterback Taylor Lamb was just a sophomore this season, so there’s room to reach at least 10 wins again.
