The Aztecs started the 2015 season poorly, losing three games in a row after their first win. But the team has not lost a game since, and will try to ride their winning streak deep into 2016.

Besides the Mountain West Championship game against Air Force, conference play went smoothly for San Diego State. The Falcons were the only conference opponent to finish the game within one possession.

In the Hawaii Bowl, San Diego State just about shut out their opponent Cincinnati. The Bearcats had three turnovers and didn’t get much offensive production against the stout Aztec defense, which ranked fifth in the nation. Donnel Pumphrey ran for 99 yards and a score, along with a 16-yard touchdown pass. The team made a big statement for finishing in the top 25 with the win.
