Stanley Boom Williams 2015 Season Statistics:

  • Games Played: 10
  • Carries: 121
  • Rushing Yards: 855
  • Yards Per Carry: 7.1
  • Rushing Touchdowns: 6
  • Rushing Yards Per Game: 85.5
  • Receptions: 13
  • Receiving Yards: 74
  • Yards Per Catch: 5.7
  • Receiving Touchdowns: 0
  • Notable: Williams ranked third in the SEC in rushing yards per carry in 2015.

As his nickname would indicate, Stanley “Boom” Williams is an explosive playmaker with the football in his hands. Williams led Kentucky with 855 rushing yards and six touchdowns on just 121 carries – an average of 7.1 yards per attempt that ranked third in the SEC among players with at least 50 rushing attempts.

Unfortunately, Williams wasn’t always available for the Wildcats. He sat out Kentucky’s 34-27 overtime victory against Eastern Kentucky in October to what was officially termed a “personal issue,” and suffered an elbow injury against Tennessee Oct. 31 that limited him to 12 yards on four carries against the Vols and forced him to miss the team’s following game against Georgia. He re-aggravated the injury in the season finale against Louisville after rushing for 37 yards on seven carries in the first quarter.

If Williams is healthy and capable of staying on the field in 2016, he will lead an experienced offense that includes four returning starters on the offensive line and every receiver that caught a pass in 2015. And, with Drew Barker taking over at quarterback following the transfer of Patrick Towles, expect the Wildcats to lean heavily on the running game.
