Recipient: Caleb Kelly, Linebacker, Clovis, CA
For much of the season and all the way into December, Caleb Kelly seemed to be a sure lock for the Irish. Give credit to Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners because they came on strong in January and landed the land the five-star linebacker out of California.

If there was one group that Notre Dame needed to shore up it was their front seven, especially the linebackers. The Irish were able to land Jonathan Jones and Daelin Hayes, but Kelly would have completed the group.
Kelly would have been a great fit in the Irish defense. He would have been able to walk on campus day one and been able to compete for an outside linebacker position, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Tevon Coney.
