30. Best SEC football players of all time: David Pollack, Georgia football

David Pollack arrived at the University of Georgia as a local product, after playing his high school ball at Shiloh High School in the state of Georgia. From that point on, he would round into one of the greatest defensive players in SEC Football history, a truly legendary defensive end in every sense of the word.

In the history of the SEC, only one player had ever been named a first-team All-American three times, Georgia star Herschel Walker. However, that would all change once Pollack got rolling at the collegiate level, as he was named an All-American in 2002, 2003, and 2004, capping off one of the more impressive careers in conference history.

A two-time SEC Player of the Year, and three-time All-SEC honoree, Pollack was an absolute monster on the edge for the Bulldogs. He racked up 36 sacks in his career, a school record, and a total that stands as the third-best for a career in the history of the SEC. He won countless awards, including a 2004 season that saw him win the Outland, Lombardi, Lott, and the Ted Hendricks Award for the second time.

The MVP of the Outback Bowl to close out his career at Georgia, Pollack would be a first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, but broke his back in his second season and had to retire. Still, his career at Georgia is the stuff of legend, and it all started with an interception against South Carolina that made him a star.
