Ed Reed was the best player on one of the best college football teams ever when he helped lead the Miami Hurricanes to the national championship in 2001. Reed only had four interceptions his first two years but doubled that total with eight interceptions as a junior in 2000 to earn consensus All-American honors.

Reed led the nation in interceptions the next season with nine and set a program record with 206 return yards with three of his picks returned for a touchdown. Reed ended his career with a win in the national championship and is fourth all-time with 21 career interceptions.

He is the Miami record holder with the 21 interceptions and holds the record with 389 return yards and five touchdowns. Reed was also a secret weapon deployed on special teams with four blocked punts during his four years with the Canes.

Reed was the No. 24 pick in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens.
